Ch. Zulfikar Ali demands construction of Budhal – Shopian Road, tehsil status to Budhal

Apni Party Vice President and Former Cabinet Minister, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali today demanded construction of Budhal – Shopian Road and Tehsil status for Budhal.

The demands were raised in a public meeting which was organised in a remote area at Gabber Bathan in Tehsil Budhal.

Addressing a well attended public meeting, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali demanded that the construction of road between Shopian and Budhal of which DPR was prepared in the previous regime costing about Rs 300 crores and this was principally agreed by the Govt of India and the then, Union Minister Nitin Ghatkari in a meeting with then Chief Minister of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that “The road is very important in view of inter-regional connectivity. Besides, it will boost the economic condition of the area and will explore the tourism of the region since the area adjoining this road is most beautiful and seven lakes are located on the sites of this proposed route.”

“The matter was also discussed by a delegation with the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha some time back and the delegation was assured that the construction work on the above said road would be taken on priority,” he said.

Therefore, the Former Minister Choudhary Zulfikar Ali has reminded the commitment of the Lt Governor which he made with the people of Budhal. He also demanded for grant of a new administration unit viz tehsil at Budhal and the area is 60 kms away from the district headquarter Rajouri. This area is far-flung and it is located at the extreme end of the district Rajouri and district Reasi.

“The people are facing a lot of inconvenience for petty administrative matters and have to visit the tehsil headquarters Kotranka that is 40 kms away from Budhal. This is a long pending demand of the area and it was also discussed with the Lt Governor when the delegation met him,” he said.

Meanwhile, he also stressed upon the state administration to gear-up the developmental works which are pending in the area or the pace of the developmental work is very slow due to which the people are deprived of the basic facilities.

He also demanded adequate posting of teaching staff in the schools and improvement in infrastructure of the schools, besides, the paramedical and doctors in the hospitals located in the areas.

He urged the Govt to explore the tourism potential of the area as the areas are scenic and the most beautiful. These picturesque areas always remained neglected by the successive regime.

In this public meeting, hundreds of the people participated and they expressed their full faith in the programmes and policies of the Apni Party. Many who left the National Conference and BJP joined Apni Party in presence of Zulfikar Ali.

While speaking at the public meeting, he welcomed the new ones into the Party and assured that the Party will leave no stone unturned to work for the upliftment of all the people.
